ABSTRACT
The study examines
the use of library resources by part-time students of Kogi State Polytechnic,
Lokoja. The purpose of the study is to find out how frequently they use the
library, find out the reasons for using the library, find out the quality of
the library collection, determine where they do most of their reading,
determine how to locate materials and ascertain the problems encountered in
using the library. Descriptive survey method was used. The instrument used for
collection of data was the questionnaire and 250 questionnaires were administered
and 200 were retrieved. The data generated were analysed using frequency counts
and percentages. The study shows that majority of the students use the library
during the weekends. The findings also show that textbooks are mostly used.
Most of the students indicated that they use the library for assignment, and do
most of their reading at home. Majority of the students encountered problems of
inadequate collection in their fields, inadequate seats and shortage of staff.
The library management should improve their services and collection.
